Abstract
The eight characters of 'Hyojechungshin‐ Yeuiyeomchi' are a collection of Confucian ethics codes of Joseon society. These eight characters are used as materials, and Hyoje‐ Munja‐ do (picture) is a drawing based on the contents of examinations and narratives related to each character, which is to visually present Confucian ethics at that time. This Hyoje‐ Munja‐ do was originally introduced to the center of Munja‐ do, and gradually became more ornamental, and the variation occurred, and it came to be freely mixed with various materials such as landscape painting, birds and animals painting, and painting with various items of books and study supplies. To discuss in this study is the so‐called Munja‐ Gwandongpalgyeong‐do, which is a mixture of Gwandongpalgyeong‐ do from Hyoje‐ Munja‐ do, which is a collection of Sunmoon University Museum. There are three <Munja‐ Gwandongpalgyeong‐do> consisting of 'Gwandongpalgyeong‐ do + Munja‐ do', 'Gwandongpalgyeong‐do + Hwaje + Munja‐ do' and 'Hwaje + Gwandongpalgyeong‐do + Munja. Among them, <Munja‐ Gwandongpalgyeong‐ do> composed of 'Hwaje + Gwandongpalgyeong‐ do + Munja‐ do' attracts attention. Hwaje at the top of this Munja‐ Gwandongpalgyeong‐ do is Gwandongpal- gyeong poems. The usual Munja‐ do is accompanied by Hwaje, a description of the Munja related phrases on one side of the screen, with a tendency for a part of the particle of Munja to be stereotyped. However, <Munja‐ Gwandongpalgyeong‐do> discussed in this study is influenced by Gwandongpal- gyeong‐do without being influenced by Munja. In other words, as Gwandongpalgyeong poetry are combined with Gwandongpalgyeong‐ do and Munja‐ do, the center of the painting is no longer in the eight characters of 'Hyojechungshin‐Yeuiyeomchi', which is a collective of Confucian ethics, but moved to Gwandongpalgyeong. Munja‐Gwandongpalgyeong‐ do, composed of Munja‐do and Gwandongpalgyeong, is a rare type of Hyoje‐ Munja‐ do, and so it is necessary to have discussion in the sense that Hwaje is the King's Sukjong's Eojesi (king's poems). For this, this study first examine the timing and changing patterns of Hyoje‐ Munja‐ do and deduce the period of production of Munja‐ Gwandongpalgyeong‐ do, which is a combination of Gwandongpalgyeong in Hyoje‐Munja‐do. Also, this study explored the composition of the Sunmoon University Museum collection <Munja‐Gwandongpalgyeong‐do> and the contents of Gwandongpalgyeong Jesihwa (poems on paintings) and discussed the cultural historic significance of <Munja‐Gwandongpalgyeong‐do>. As a result, <Munja‐Gwandongpalgyeong‐do>, which belongs to Sunmoon University, was in the midst of the style transition process, and it was originated in the early 19th century in time and was created in conjunction with Gwandongpalgyeong‐ do that was rampant in Gangwon region.
