Abstract

The hermeneutic model of Christian education serves as a theological approach to resolve the world-view conflicts between the Bible and modern society, balancing the biblical perspectives of creation, redemption, and eschatology with the empirical worldview of modern scientific and technological society through hermeneutical bridges. Bultmann's demythologizing theory is pivotal in this context, as it seeks to interpret biblical myths in a way that is meaningful to modern individuals. By viewing myths as primitive explanations of human existence, Bultmann aims to convey the existential significance of biblical messages in a contemporary context. His approach is not about eliminating myths but about interpreting them to uncover the underlying kerygma, which is integral to the myths themselves. Stallmann's model emphasizes the importance of understanding the historical and cultural contexts of biblical texts. It involves a process of making the text unfamiliar to highlight its historical nature and then applying hermeneutics to derive contemporary relevance. This approach ensures that biblical education is not merely about transmitting dogma but about facilitating an understanding that resonates with modern learners. Theissen's elementarization theory further enhances this educational framework by identifying core motifs in the Bible and relating them to the life experiences of learners. This process simplifies complex theological concepts without distorting their meaning, making them accessible to a broader audience. By integrating Bultmann's existential hermeneutics with Theissen's elementarization, biblical education becomes more effective in conveying meaningful messages to contemporary learners. The practical procedure of the hermeneutic approach of Bible didactics consists of four stages: text analysis, pattern identification, understanding the text’s intention, and deriving contemporary meanings. Through this process, it analyzes the deeper meanings behind the biblical narratives and provides a kerygma that is understandable to modern people. This hermeneutical approach offers a method to apply biblical truths to modern society, enabling the church to align with contemporary trends while maintaining scriptural integrity.
