본 연구에서는 대형재난이 손보사 기업가치(주가)에 미치는 영향에 대하여 알아보았다. 2002년 태풍 루사와 2003년 태풍 매미에 의한 피해를 대상으로 하였으며, 이벤트스터디 방법을 활용하였다. 검정방법으로는 Patell(1976)의 개별주식 시계열 검정법으로 하였다. 연구결과 두 개의 태풍에 의한 피해 및 이로 인한 손보사 주가에 미친 영향이 다르게 나타나고 있으며, 비정상수익률을 거둘 수 있는지 여부에 대한 검정통계 결과 태풍 루사의 경우에는 유의하지 않으나 태풍 매미의 경우는 유의한 결과를 나타내고 있다.
Abstract
In this research, we investigate the effects of typhoons, MAEMI and RUSA, on the stock prices of the property and liability insurers. An event study method is adopted. Patell's z-test criteria is applied. The results show that RUSA's effects on the property and liability firms' stock value were not statistically significant but MAEMI's effects were statistically significant.
