Abstract
This work was conducted to optimize the completion design of pad-drilled shale gas well in Horn river area, Canada, which was achieved through the analysis of well interference. Considering many empirical project results conducted by many companies, there are some restrictions in increasing horizontal well length and they require optimization of fracture volume and well spacings. Using the analysis data on a conducted completion program in the area, well intereference was studied with respect to pressure changes in the surrounding wells and microseismic monitoring data. Through the analysis, we show that well interference is observed at spacing of 400~600 m when fracture volumes of 3,000~4,000 m3/stage is injected in Muskwa formation. This result is consistent with the fracture length derived by the analysis of microseismic data.
