한국어의 위치동화에 대한 분석 -적합도 설문평가를 중심으로-

본 연구의 목적은 설문조사 결과를 바탕으로 한국어에서 수의적으로 적용되는 위치동화의 양상을 구체적으로 살펴보는 것이다. 수도권 화자 98명을 대상으로 위치동화를 겪은 발음에 대한 적합도를 평가하고 조사 결과를 통계적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과 치경음의 양순음화와 연구개음화는 제보자들로부터 긍정적인 평가를 받은 경우가 많았지만 양순음의 연구개음화는 부정적인 평가를 받은 경우가 많았다. 동화주가 경음인 경우 동화주가 평음이거나 유기음인 경우에 비하여 평가 점수가 낮았으나 음운현상이 반영된 결과라기보다는 조사 어휘의 자소빈도와 관련된 결과로 보인다. 위치동화는 음성학적 동기를 가진 음운현상이므로 저빈도 어휘보다 고빈도 어휘에서 위치동화가 잘 일어날 것으로 예상되었으나 어휘의 빈도효과는 관찰되지 않았으며 남녀 성별간 차이도 통계적으로 유의미한 수준은 아니었다.
Abstract
This paper aims to investigate the detailed aspects of Korean place assimilation. For this research, a questionnaire survey of Korean place assimilation was conducted. 18 test words were chosen and 98 Seoul Korean speakers participated in this questionnaire survey. The results show coronal sound /n/ is disposed to undergo assimilation, but labial sound /m/ is not. According to the place of articulation of a trigger, plain stop and aspirated stop are preferred to tensed stop. However this preference is likely to reflect the very low frequency of bigram ‘nasal+tensed stop’. There were no frequency effects between high frequency words and low frequency words in the survey results. The difference between male and female informants was not statistically significant.
