This paper aims to examine diachronic aspects of neologisms that have been used consistently up until now by analyzing their frequency in a dynamic corpus. Section 2 presents the methodology adopted for investigating the changes in the use of neologisms using a largeᐨscale webᐨcrawled corpus. Section 3 explores the cases of a few neologisms that have been used consistently and discusses various aspects regarding these. The case studies allow for the detailed examination and discussion of the life cycle of neologisms, from their first appearance and evolution to their obsolescence, their disappearance, and even their revival. Then, a number of issues regarding the analysis of neologism use are looked into. The neologisms that are brought into focus in this study are those that have survived to date from their first appearance in 2005, 2006, and 2007 as investigated by The National Institute of the Korean Language. News articles from Naver News have been analyzed to study their development.
