본 연구의 목적은 축구 경기에서 골키퍼의 빌드업 능력이 효용성을 갖는지 실증적으로 분석하는 것이다. 이를위해 본 연구에서는 2022 카타르 월드컵 60경기의 경기기록을 연구 자료로 활용하였다. 분석에 활용된 변수는 각국가의 골키퍼 빌드업 변수(패스, 볼 다루는 능력, 수비 특성)와 팀 특성 변수(팀 볼 점유율, 팀 시드, 필드 패스성공률)이다. 첫 단계로 필드 플레이어 패스 성공률을 통제한 상황에서 골키퍼 빌드업 변수가 팀 볼 점유율에 미치는영향을 분석한 결과, 볼 컨트롤 변수를 제외한 모든 골키퍼 빌드업 변수가 팀 볼 점유율에 미치는 영향이 통계적으로유의하였다(p<.05). 두 번째 단계로 골키퍼 빌드업 변수가 볼 점유율에 미치는 영향이 월드컵 팀 시드에 따라 차이가있는지를 분석하기 위해 조절효과분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 패스 변수를 제외한 골키퍼 빌드업 변수와 팀 시드변수 간 조절효과는 통계적으로 유의하였다(p<.05). 본 연구의 결과는 골키퍼 빌드업 능력이 팀 볼 점유율에 유의한영향을 미치며, 그 영향은 팀 수준에 따라 다르게 나타날 수 있음을 시사한다.
Abstract
This study aims to empirically analyze the utility of goalkeepers’ build-up abilities in football matches. To achieve this, the study utilizes match records from 60 matches of the 2022 Qatar World Cup. The variables included in the current study are goalkeeper build-up variables (passes, ball control, defensive attributes) and team-specific variables (team ball possession, team seed, field pass success rate). In the first step, while controlling for the field player’s pass success rate, the impact of goalkeeper build-up ability on team ball possession was analyzed. The results indicated that all goalkeeper build-up variables, except for ball control, had a statistically significant impact on team ball possession (p < .05). In the second step, to examine whether the influence of goalkeeper build-up variables on ball possession differs based on World Cup team seeds, moderation analysis was conducted. The results showed that the moderation effect between goalkeeper build-up variables (excluding the pass variable) and team seed variable was statistically significant (p < .05). The findings of the study suggest that goalkeeper build-up abilities significantly influence team ball possession and that this affect may vary based on team levels.
