The purpose of this paper is to analyze the possibility of aircraft maintenance repair system as a business model for the air transportation industry in Korea. As global economic environment changes dramatically, Airline companies tend to rely more and more portion of their operation on outsourcing. And maintenance and overhaul is one of the representative case. Since 1968 when Boeing developed Modern Maintenance Planning Document(MPD), many corporations followed American line. We expect outsourcing will more widely spread due to uncertainty, such as, skyrocketed costs. Analyzing FAA R/S Certificates and global corporation environments, such as, Chinese R/S business, we find MRO(Maintenance Repair and Overhaul) business in Korea have competitiveness.
