본 연구의 목적은 비판적 사고와 문제해결력 증진에 효과적인 정보 그림책의 필요성에 주목하여, 정보 그림책을 활용한 다양한 창의성 활동을 구성하여 비판적 사고와 문제해결력에 미치는 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 U 광역시에 소재하는 Y 어린이집 5세 유아 19명과 U 어린이집 5세 유아 18명으로 37명의 유아를 대상으로 하였으며, 김현경(2002)이 설계, 제작한 비판적 사고와 안경숙(1992)이 작성한 문제해결력 검사 도구로 사전, 사후 검사를 하였다. 4권의 정보 그림책으로 주 2회씩 총 16회로 창의성 활동을 하여 정보 그림책의 교육적 효과를 실제적으로 연구해보았다. 자료 분석은 SPSS 27.0 통계프로그램을 사용하여 독립표본 t-검증과 대응표본 t 검증을 실시하였다.연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 정보 그림책을 활용한 창의성 활동은 비판적 사고에 긍정적인 효과를 보인 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 정보 그림책을 활용한 창의성 활동은 문제해결력에 있어서 긍정적인 효과를 보인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 통해 정보 그림책이 유아의 호기심과 흥미를 충족시켜 지식을 습득할 수 있게 하고, 창의성 활동을 함으로써 유아들은 유연한 사고로 지식을 활용하여 비판적으로 사고할 기회를 얻게 되고 문제해결력 증진에 효과적임을 알 수 있다.
Abstract
This study examined the effects of creative activities using informational picture books on young children's critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. The participants were 37 five-year-old children enrolled in Y Childcare Center and U Childcare Center in U Metropolitan City. Pre- and post-tests were conducted using Kim(2002) Critical Thinking Test and Ahn(1992) Problem-Solving Ability Test. Creative activities were implemented over 16 sessions using four informational picture books, with sessions held twice a week. Data were analyzed using independent t-tests and paired t-tests with SPSS 27.0. The results are as follows. First, creative activities utilizing informational picture books had a positive effect on young children's critical thinking. Second, these activities also contributed to the enhancement of problem-solving abilities. These findings suggest that informational picture books serve as an effective educational tool for fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills in young children.
