정이(程頤) ‘경’에 대한 소고(小考) - 공부 원리적 요소를 중심으로 -

정이(程頤)는 송명리학 사상가로서 주희 사상 철학의 체계를 확립하는 데 있어 큰 영향을 끼친 인물이다. 특히 수양론 분야에서 그 영향이 상당한데, 정이의 수양론에 대한 연구는 주희에 비하면 상대적으로 미비한 실정이다. 정이의 수양체계는 ‘주경(主敬)’을 중심으로 이루어졌는데, 경에 대한 해석을 통해 수양공부로서의 의미를 제시하였다. 이 부분에 착안하여 ‘비대상성(非對象性)’을 통해 대상과의 관계성 없이도 공부가 가능한 경(敬) 공부에서의 교육적으로 접목할 수 있는 지점을 탐색해보고자 한다. 본 논고는 교화를 국가의 정책으로 삼았던 이정 형제의 교육적 취지를 배경으로 교화를 중시했던 당시의 상황을 살피고, 정이의 ‘주경 ’공부의 의미를 검토하도록 한다. 일차적으로는 정이 수양론을 통해 사상 철학을 이해하고, 나아가서는 교육가로서의 의도를 파악하여 교육적 의미를 제시하는 유의미한 작업이 될 것이다.
Abstract
Ceng-Yi (程頤) is a theorist in Song-Ming Lixue (neo-Confucianism), a very influential figure as to establishing a system from philosophical thoughts of Zhu'xi. Ceng-Yi’s influence is predominant particularly in the field of self-cultivation theory but there are relatively few studies conducted regarding the self-cultivation theory. Ceng-Yi’s self-cultivation system revolves around ‘Zhujing (主敬)’ and he suggested the meaning of self-cultivation theory through interpretation of Zhujing. Focusing on this aspect, this study aims to explore a point which can be grafted into study of Jing (敬) that can be investigated even without a relation to an object through ‘non-objecthood (非對象性)’ in an educational sense. This study is to examine the then circumstances that stressed edification on the basis of educational purpose promoted by Cheng brothers who made edification the national policy and to review the meaning of ‘Zhujing’ study of Ceng-Yi. This process would be significant to present educational meaning in that Ceng-Yi’s philosophical ideas are to be understood through his self-cultivation theory and further, Ceng-Yi’s intention as an educator is to be grasped
