노쇠와 구강노쇠 개념의 역사에 대한 짧은 고찰

Abstract

While the term frailty appear in the medical literature in the 1950s, it was not until the late 1980s that frailty came to be used as a term of geroscience, biological gerontology. The scientific concept had focused on the non-organ specific pathophysiological underpinning of frailty. Thereafter two representative models of frailty – the deficit model and the phenotype model – provided the basis for pragmatic approaches to its screening and diagnosis. It is necessary to reconsider the clinical approach along the geroscientific concept, ie. focusing on the modifiable biological and non-biological factors of frailty rather than focusing individual diseases. In addition, with regard to the relationship between frailty and oral frailty, it is necessary to comparatively examine two different approaches, one that conceptualizes oral frailty, along with domainspecific frailties, as distinct entities, and another that understands oral aspect as one of several dimensions which are interrelated within the construct of frailty.
