본 연구의 목적은 기독교 한부모가족 어머니의 자녀양육 경험의 의미를 심층적으로 탐구하는 것이다. 이를 위해 교회에 출석하는 기독교 신앙경력이 5년 이상이고, 한부모가 된 이후 2년 이상 1명 이상의 6세–18세 미만 학령기 아동 및 청소년 자녀와 동거하며 양육해 온 한부모가족 어머니 10명을 선정하여 면담하였고, 자료는 Giorgi의 현상학적 연구방법으로 분석하였다. 그 결과, 12개의 구성요소와 28개의 하위 구성요소가 도출되었다. 12개의 구성요소는 ‘홀로 짊어진 슬프고 고된 짐’, ‘아버지 부재의 환경을 자책함’, ‘부족한 재정으로 뒷바라지 못하는 애달픈 심정’, ‘피하고 움츠러드는 대인관계’, ‘자녀에 대한 기대와 현실 사이의 고군분투’, ‘내 힘이 아닌 하나님께 맡긴 양육’, ‘하나님과 동행하는 양육자로 빚어짐’, ‘힘과 안식처가 되는 신앙공동체’, ‘공적 지원망은 양육의 보호막’, ‘애물단지 자녀가 복의 통로가 됨’, ‘자녀가 신앙 안에서 성장·독립하기를 소망함’, ‘고난은 나의 성장과 타인을 품는 자원’이다. 본 연구의 결과는 한부모가족 어머니들을 위한 기독교상담과 교회 돌봄의 구체적인 지원 방안을 마련하는 데 기초자료로 사용될 수 있다는 데 의의가 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore in depth the meanings of the child-rearing experiences of Christian single-parent mothers. To this end, ten Christian single-parent mothers who had attended church for more than five years and had lived with and raised at least one school-aged child or adolescent (aged 6–18) for more than two years since becoming a single parent were selected and interviewed. The data were analyzed using Giorgi’s phenomenological research method. As a result, 12 components and 28 sub-components were derived. The 12 components are: ‘a sad and difficult burden carried alone’, ‘self-blame for the environment of the father’s absence’, ‘a feeling of sorrow for not being able to support one’s children due to the lack of financial means’, ‘interpersonal relationships that are avoided and withdrawn’, ‘painful struggles between expectations and reality of life for children’, ‘nurturing entrusted to God, not on my strength’, ‘being shaped as a parent who walks with God’, ‘a Christian faith community that provides strength and shelter’, ‘a public support network being a shield for parenting’, ‘burdensome children becoming a conduit of blessings’, ‘hoping for children to grow in faith and become independent’, and ‘hardship being a resource for my growth and an ability to embrace others’. The results of this study are significant in that they can be used as basic data for establishing specific support measures for Christian counseling and church care for single-parent mothers.
