Abstract

Yoon Dongjoo, a poet born in YongJungChina, was first discovered and admired by Koreans. From pan-ethnic literature point of view, this is not a rare phenomenon. However, it would become a loss if the migration complex in his poem is overlooked. Nine poems, all of which revealed obvious immigrant sentiments, have been selected and analyzed in this thesis. Confirmation has been reached that all these poems disclosed the poet's recognition of identity, i.e. descendent of Kando migrants. This can be seen in those poems that showed direct concern on migration issues, as well as in some other poems that the poet considered Myungdongas his homeland and revealed sad nostalgia. Moreover, the homesick poet had possessed strong determinations and expectations, to 'illuminate the lights', and drive away epoch darkness. He was not simply a natural person, but an intellect with strong sense of mission for his own era. He was immigrant poet. At the same time, he was resister poet. These two aspects are offering great insight into Yong Dongjoo's inimitable value.
