Abstract
In this study, a reinforced concrete structure was fabricated and subjected to collapse testing, and the results were analyzed using the Applied Element Method (AEM) to evaluate its validity as a practical alternative for simulating structural failures. Furthermore, the proposed reproduction methodology, established through collapse testing and simulation, was applied to real cases to verify its effectiveness. The simulation results demonstrated that AEM provides quantitatively reliable outcomes for both anchored and unanchored specimens when the mesh size is approximately 20 mm. Although quantitative reproduction of large-scale structures in real collapse accidents can impose excessive computational loads, many practical applications focus on qualitatively reproducing the collapse process caused by defects. In such cases, adjusting the mesh size can improve modeling efficiency and computational speed, suggesting that AEM is an effective approach for realistic collapse simulation.
