Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare soccer performance factors according to playing position in elite high school soccer players. A total of 64 high school soccer players were selected and classified into forward (FW, n=22), midfielder (MF, n=18), defender (DF, n=24) groups. To identify 8 field tests (2 shooting, 2 dribbling, lifting, passing & receiving tests, speed, aerobic capacity) that can predict performance in soccer players, a Delphi method was conducted. As results of this study, FW had higher power dribbling skill and speed than the other two groups, and MF were required to have passing and receiving skills to connect between FW and DF. DF were required to have lifting skill to handle the ball. However, there were no significant differences in shooting skill, round-trip dribbling skill and aerobic capacity according to playing position. Our finding suggested new evidence that six field tests applied in this study might be an important predictor of performance in high school soccer athletes.
