초록

This study uses difference-in-difference specifications to examine the effects of Indonesia anti-dumping (AD) duties on the productivity of Korean-owned foreign affiliates based in the country when such duties are imposed on their parent firms. We find that Indonesia AD duties strongly reduce the productivity of foreign affiliates whose parent firms are specifically named in AD duty orders. Classifying foreign affiliates by their FDI types, negative AD duty effects are found across vertical affiliates. Examining the underlying mechanism behind differential AD duty effects between horizontal and vertical affiliates, We find that vertical affiliates suffer from a decrease in their imports from the parent firms and local production during AD duty imposition periods.

Abstract

Examining the underlying mechanism behind differential AD duty effects between horizontal and vertical affiliates, We find that vertical affiliates suffer from a decrease in their imports from the parent firms and local production during AD duty imposition periods.
