이 연구는 한국 선원 직업의 지속 가능성을 강화하기 위해 학생, 일반인, 현직 선원 간 인식 차이를 분석하여 실효성 있는 정책 방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 2024년 12월부터 2025년 1월까지 491 명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고, ANOVA와 t검정으로 교육 수준, 경제적 안정성, 직업 전망, 근무 환경, 사회적 인식 개선 필요성을 비교 분석하였다. 결과는 그룹별 뚜렷한 차이를 드러냈으며, 특히 현직 선원이 고용 불안정성과 열악한 근무 환경을 부정적으로 평가하였다. 이를 바탕으로 맞춤형 IT 기반 교육 프로그램 개발, 복지 확대, 사회적 인식 개선을 위한 대중 캠페인을 제안한다. 이러한 정책은 선원 직업의 매력도를 높이고, 인력 부족 문제를 완화하며, 해운 산업의 경쟁력을 강화할 것이다. 또한, 글로벌 물류와 국가 경제의 지속 가능성을 지원하는 기초 자료로 활용되어 장기적인 산업 발전에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
Abstract
In this study, we aim to bolster the sustainability of South Korea’s seafarer profession by analyzing perception differences among students, the public, and active seafarers to propose effective policy directions. From December 2024 to January 2025, a survey of 491 participants was conducted, using ANOVA and t-tests to compare education level, economic stability, job prospects, working conditions, and the need for improved social perceptions. Results highlight significant group disparities, with seafarers underscoring job insecurity and poor working conditions. The study proposes tailored IT-based education programs, expanded welfare, and public campaigns to enhance social perceptions. These policies are expected to increase the profession’s appeal, address workforce shortages, and strengthen maritime industry competitiveness. They will also serve as a foundation for supporting global logistics and national economic sustainability, contributing to long-term industry development.
