고등학교로의 진학 과정(school transition)에서 학교적응 변화 : 사회적 관계를 중심으로

본 연구에서는 고등학교 진학과정에서 청소년들의 학교적응 변화를 살펴보고, 이에 대한 사회적 관계의 영향을 분석하기 위해 이차함수모형을 이용한 종단적 연구를 실시하였다. 한국청소년패널조사(KYPS)의 중2 패널 1, 2, 3, 4차년도 데이터를 분석에 사용하였다. 분석결과, 중2에서 중3으로 학령이 증가함에 따라 학교적응점수가 증가하지만 변화율이 감소하여 고1을 지나면서 학교적응점수가 감소하는 역U자형을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 중2시점에는 부모·교사·또래와의 관계 모두가 학교적응에 유의미한 영향을 미치지만, 이후 변화율에는 학령이 증가함에 따라 교사와의 관계와 또래와의 관계만이 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 교사와의 관계가 원만한 청소년의 경우 그렇지 않은 청소년에 비해 학교적응이 전 시기에 있어서 높을 뿐만 아니라 학령이 증가함에 따라 보다 완만하게 감소하는 양상을 보였다. 한편 또래와의 관계가 원만한 청소년은 그렇지 않은 청소년에 비해 전반적으로 학교적응이 높지만 학령 증가에 따른 변화의 양상은 유의미한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로, 고등학교 진학으로 달라진 환경에서 청소년들의 적응을 향상시키기 위한 개입이 필요하다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the trajectory of school adjustment during the transition from middle school to high school, and to examine the social relationships that contribute to this trajectory. The Korea Youth Pane Survey(KYPS), from the first-year to 4th-year was the source of the data used for the analysis. The results showed that adolescents' levels of school adjustment increased from the 2nd grade to the 3rd grade in middle school and decreased from the 1st grade to the 2nd grade in high school, indicating a reverse-U shape. The results also revealed that peer relationships and teacher relationships have an influence on the trajectory of school adjustment. In conclusion, this study suggested that intervention should be offered to improve the school adjustment of adolescents who are exposed to stressful environments during the transition into high school.
