『經世訓民正音圖說』과 『五音集韻』의 운모체계 비교

이 논문은 『경세훈민정음도설』 음계의 특징을 알아보기 위하여 『오음집운』과 『경세훈민정음도설』의 상관관계를 먼저 정립한 후, 『오음집운』의 운모체계의 특징인 2등운의 병합, 3등운 간의 합류, 3·4등운 간의 병합이 『경세도설』에 반영되어 있는지에 초점을 맞추어 두 문헌을 비교하였다. 『경세도설』과 『오음집운』의 운부 체계를 비교한 결과, 支·脂·之운, 皆·佳운, 山·刪운, 銜·咸운, 嚴운이 『경세도설』에서는 분립하고, 『오음집운』은 이미 위의 운들이 병합되었다. 『경세도설』 중 2등운 중운인 山·删운, 佳·皆운 및 거성 卦·耕· 庚운, 咸·銜운이 실제 용자의 배열에서 혼용되었다. 『오음집운』의 3등운 중 支·脂·之운이 支운으로, 眞· 臻운이 眞운으로, 嚴·凡운이 凡운으로 합쳐졌는데, 『경세도설』에서는 支·脂·之운을 분립시켰으나, 실제 용자에서는 支·脂·之운이 서로 혼용되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 『경세도설』은 凡韻을 嚴운에 귀속시켰으나, 『오음집운』은 嚴운을 凡운에 배열하였다. 『경세도설』에서 先운과 仙운, 鹽운과 添韻이 합류되었고, 宵· 蕭운, 靑·淸운이 각각 함께 배열하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서, 『경세도설』의 용자 배열은 『오음집운』 운부 체계의 양상을 일부 반영한 것이라 할 수 있다. 이 외에도, 『경세도설』의 중성 표기음이 『오음집운』의재구음과 다소 거리가 있다는 점을 발견하였는데, 이는 최석정이 자신의 언어관념과 역리적 틀에 따라 설계한중성 자모 체계를 따랐기 때문이라 추측된다.
Abstract
Ch'oesŏkchŏng(최석정, 崔錫鼎)’s Kyŏngsehunminjŏngŭmdosŏl(경세훈민정음도설, 經世訓民正音圖說) is a rhyme table in which the Korean alphabet was added, and it is of great value in the history of Korean language and Chinese phonology. This study aimed to compare the vowels and finals system of Kyŏngsehunminjŏngŭmdosŏl with that of Wǔyīnjíyùn(오음집운, 五音集韻) to clarify the traits of the phonological system in Kyŏngsehunminjŏngŭmdosŏl. The study constructed a philological relation between Kyŏngsehunminjŏngŭmdosŏl and Wǔyīnjíyùn based on a record in the collection of Ch'oe’s work and analyzed the rhyme system of Kyŏngsehunminjŏngŭmdosŏl with regard to the traits of the vowels and finals system in Wǔyīnjíyùn, such as the second grade rhymes(2등운, 二等韻) integration, the merger of the third grade rhymes(3등운, 三等韻), the third and fourth grades(4등운, 四等韻) integration and so on. Through the analysis, this study found the rhymes which are integrated in Wǔyīnjíyùn, such as Jiē(皆) and Jiā(佳) rhymes, Guà(卦), Guài(怪) and Guài(夬) rhymes, Gēng(耕) and Gēng(庚) rhymes, Shān(山) and Shān(刪) rhymes, Zhī(支), Zhī(脂) and Zhī(之) rhymes, Zhēn(眞) and Zhēn (臻) rhymes, Xiāo(宵) and Xiāo(蕭) rhymes, Xiān(仙) and Xiān(先), Yán(鹽) and Tiān(添) rhymes, are divided individually in the rhyme system of Kyŏngsehunminjŏngŭmdosŏl. Unlike the rhyme list, the actual order of Chinese characters showed the mix of the second grade rhymes(2등운, 二 等韻), the merger of the third grade rhymes(3등운, 三等韻), and the mix of third and fourth grades(4등운, 四等韻), which is not consistent with its rhyme system. Also, Yuán(元) and Xiān(仙) rhymes and Zhī(支), Zhī(脂), Zhī(之) and Wēi(微) rhymes in Kyŏngsehunminjŏngŭmdosŏl are arranged in the same category, which does not correspond with Wǔyīnjíyùn. This study also found the usage of Yuán(元) and Xiān(仙) rhymes and Zhī(支), Zhī(脂), Zhī(之) and Wēi(微) rhymes in Kyŏngsehunminjŏngŭmdosŏl is instead equivalent to Shēngyīnchànghètú(聲音唱和圖) and Qièyùnzhǐnán(切韻指南). This study recognized Kyŏngsehunminjŏngŭmdosŏl used artificial letters for the transcription of medial Korean syllables, which does not reflect Wǔyīnjíyùn. This was due to the way Ch'oe deduced the medial letters, which was based on his imaginative view of the Korean language, as opposed to the actual sounds.
