영호남 유권자의 인지적 동원과 투표행태

본 연구는 지역정당에 대한 지지가 강하게 유지되는 영호남 유권자를 대상으로 인지적 동원의 영향을 확인하였다. 구체적으로는 인지적 동원이 지방선거과정에서 ①선거정보를 획득하는 형태 ②투표결정요인 ③투표참여에 미치는 영향을 확인하였다. 이를 통해 영호남 유권자의 투표행태를 보다 구체적으로 파악하고 영호남 지방정치의 발전 가능성을 판단하고자 한다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인지적 동원은 유권자의 투표참여에 대한 적극적인 태도를 형성하는데 기여한다. 둘째, 인지적 동원정도가 높을수록 후보자를 결정할 때 후보자 요인을 중요한 판단기준으로 삼는 경향이 있다. 셋째, 대중매체를 통한 정보획득은 인지적 동원에 영향을 미친다. 넷째, 교육수준과 정보이용은 인지적 동원향상에 긍정적으로 영향을 미친다. 이러한 연구결과는 정도의 차이는 있을지라도 인지적 동원이 지속적으로 확대될 것이며, 그로인해 영호남의 정치지형이 변화할 수 있다는 가능성을 보여준다.
Abstract
This research aims to investigate the effect of cognitive mobilization. This research has a special interest in the eatimation of the effects of cognitive mobilization on the acquisition of electoral information, the vote determinants and the vote participation. For analysis, this study employs survey data which was conducted targeting residents in Daegu and Gwangju, Korea in 2014. The results are as follows. First, the information via mass media enhances the cognitive mobilization of the residents. Second, the candidate factor is the more important consideration for the cognitively mobilized residents than the party factor in selecting the candidates. Third, the cognitive mobilization contributes to raising the turnout. These results imply that the cognitive mobilization will be expanded continuously and that the political situations in Yeongnam and Honam will be changed.
