가정폭력이 남자 청소년의 가부장적 남성성과 폭력성에 미치는 종단적 영향

초록

청소년기는 여러 가지 사회적 경험을 통해 성역할과 자아 정체감을 형성해 나가는 시기이다. 성역할과 정체감 형성에 민감한 시기에 있는 청소년들은 부모가 서로에게 언어적, 신체적 폭력을 행사하거나, 부모로부터 폭행을 당하는 경우 폭력과 지배적 태도를 학습한다. 본 연구는 가정폭력이 남자 청소년들의 남성성과 폭력성의 형성 및 증가에 미치는 종단적 영향을 규명하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위하 한국청소년패녈(KYPS)에서 추출된 남자 청소년 1,724명을 대상으로 그들이 지각한 가정폭력이 가부장적 남성성, 폭력성의 증가에 미치는 종단적 영향과, 가부장적 남성성이 폭력성의 증가에 미치는 영향에 대해 잠재성장모형분석을 실시했다. 연구결과 가정폭력은 남자 청소년들의 가부장적인 남성성의 증가와 폭력성의 증가에 유의미한 종단적 영향을 미친다. 또한 남자 청소년들의 가부장적인 남성성은 그들의 폭력성의 증가에 유의미한 종단적 영향을 미친다. 이러한 결과는 가정폭력이 학습되며 남자 청소년들로 하여금 왜곡된 남성성과 폭력에 대한 허용적 태도 및 행동을 조성한다는 것을 경험적으로 보여준다. 또한 청소년들의 건전한 성장을 위해 가정폭력의 예방과 종합적, 가족치료적 접근이 필요함을 시사한다.

Abstract

Adolescents are sensitive to gender role identity and form their gender identity through a variety of social interactions. They tend to learn violent and suppressive attitudes if they witness their parents engage in verbal and physical aggression towards their spouse. This study sought to investigate the longitudinal effects of domestic violence on male adolescents' patriarchical masculinity and violence. To achieve this goal, 1,724 male adolescents from the KYPS panel were selected. Latent growth modeling analyses were performed in order to test the longitudinal effects of domestic violence on male adolescents' patriarchical masculinity and their levels of violence. The results of the analyses indicated that there are significant longitudinal effects of domestic violence on male adolescents' patriarchical masculinity and violence. The longitudinal effects of patriarchical masculinity on male adolescents' violence was also found to be statistically significant. These results suggest that prevention programs focusing on domestic violence constitute an urgent need if male adolescents are going to be able to develop healthy attitudes to their gender roles and their masculinity in general. They also indicate that multisystemic approaches, including family‐based therapists and community leaders, educational administrators, and police institutes will need to work in unison to reduce male adolescents' use of violence, itself stemming from prior experience of domestic violence.
