초록
Objectives: We aimed to investigate how functional dyspepsia (FD) is described in Donguibogam by focusing on its mechanisms, symptoms, and treatments. Methods: Passages relevant to FD were selected based on the ROME IV diagnostic criteria and Korean medicine terminologies. We extracted symptoms, pathological mechanisms, and treatment methods, including acupuncture, herbs, and prescriptions. Results: Of the 283 passages examined, 45 were identified as related to FD. The results suggest that FD-related passages involve both deficiency and excess syndromes and emphasize treatments that protect the spleen and stomach. Frequently mentioned herbs include 神麴, 陳皮, and 白朮. Conclusions: Donguibogam provides a comprehensive approach to treating FD by distinguishing between deficiency and excess conditions, emphasizing the importance of protecting the spleen and stomach. This highlights the potential of Korean medicine in managing FD, providing historical insights and applications in modern healthcare, and enhancing the understanding and treatment of FD through Korean medical knowledge.
