초록

최근 문화적 세계화의 영향아래 인간의 삶 속에 내재하는 신성(神性)의 경험으로서 ‘영성’(靈性)이 왕성하게 성장하고 있다. ‘종교’로부터 ‘영성’으로의 전환은 선진 산업사회와 연관되어 나타나고 있는 것처럼 보인다. 이런 맥락에서, 이 글은 ‘영적 혁명 논제’ 삶의 영성이 제도화된 전통적 종교 내부에서 성장세에 있다 를 지지한다. 이것을 입증하기 위해서 이 글은 현대 한국 사회에서 번영(성공)의 복음을 갖고 대중에게 다가서고 있는 ‘오순절성령운동’(펜테코을 모아 논의를 전개하였다. 한국의 오순절 성령운동적 개신교도들은 처음과 달리 현재 전체적으로 점 중산층의 지향을 나타내고 있는 것이 사실이다. 원초적, 경험적 영성으로서 새로운 오순절 성령운동적 영성은 ‘객관적 삶’이 아닌 ‘주관적 삶’의 요구에 응한다. 한국 개신교 내의 새로운 성령운동에서 잘 예시되어 나타난다고 볼 수 있는 현대 문화의 대규모적인 ‘주관적 전환’은 최근의 경제 발전과 네트웍 사회의 출현에 의해 초래된 것으로서, 오늘날 우리들 모두가 일정 정도 경험하고 있는 주요한 문화적 전환이라 말할 수 있다. 이런 의미232 세계화와 영적 혁명에서, 포스트모던 시대의 ‘문화적 세계화’와 일종의 문화적 사실로서 ‘주관적 전환’ 사이의 괄목할만한 상호 관련이 한국적 맥락, 특히 새로운 오순절적/카리스마적 성령운동 같은 종교적 현상 속에서 잘 관찰될 수 있다.

Abstract

With the impact of cultural globalization, spirituality as experience of the divine as immanent in life (theistic spiritualities of life) is thriving. The shift from religion to spirituality would apear to be associated with advanced industrial society. In this context, this paper suports the thesis of a spiritual revolution: the fact that spiritualities of life are a growing force within the sphere of institutionalized, traditional religion. In order to verify this, this paper deals with Pentecostalism, especially neoPentecostalism with a gospel of prosperity in Korea. It is a fact that Pentecostal Protestants in Korea as a whole show a growing midle class orientation. NeoPentecostal Christianity as primal, experiential spirituality caters for not life as but life itself or subjective life. Thus, the masive subjective turn of modern culture caused by both economic development and the rise of the network society is a major cultural shift of which we all have some experience. In this sense, the remarkable interface between cultural globalization of the post modern era and the ‘subjective turn’ as a cultural fact could be observed in a Korean context, especially in the religious phenomena such as the growth of neo-Pentecostal/Charismatic movement.
