아동문학의 가족 담론과 경계적 사유 고찰

이글의 목적은 한국아동서사문학에 나타난 ‘정상가족’ 담론의 문제점을 살펴보고, 정상가족 너머 ‘다양한 가족’의 가능성과 그 특성을 고찰하는 것이다. 법적 부부와 그 자녀로 이루어진 혈연 공동체로서의 가족이라는 ‘정상가족’ 담론 하에서는 ‘정상’의 형태 유지를 위한 가족 구성원의 희생이 당연시 된다. 또한 ‘정상가족’에 포함되지 않는 이들은 박탈감을 느끼게 된다. 현실에서 ‘정상가족’의 형태가 급속도로 와해되어가고 있는 요즘, 아동 독자에게 다양한 가족의 형태를 긍정적으로 제시하는 일은 시급한 과제이다. 혈연이라는 폐쇄성을 뛰어넘고 부모와 자녀라는 틀에서 자유로워질 때에 다양한 모습으로 서로를 지지하며 살아가는 ‘다양한 가족’에 대한 이해와 인식도 더욱 높아질 것이다. 『뺑덕』과 『섬마을 스캔들』은 이러한 ‘정상가족’ 담론의 폭력성과 그 경계를 사유한 작품이다. 『뺑덕』이 ‘정상가족’ 담론의 문제점을 가족을 위해 희생되는 여성인물을 통해서 보여주었다면, 『섬마을 스캔들』은 혈연으로 이루어지지 않은 ‘순수한 관계’로서의 공동체를 그려 보임으로써 대안적이며 다양한 가족의 형태를 드러내었다. 두 작품은 모두 ‘혈연 공동체’가 아닌 ‘생활 공동체’로서의 가족을 긍정하고 있는데, 이러한 대안 가족의 특성은 ‘주변성’과 ‘책임성’이다. 생활공동체로서의 가족은 타자적 구성원의 일방적 희생이 아니라, 구성원 모두의 자발적 책임으로 유지된다. 『뺑덕』의 중심인물인 병덕은 혈연으로 맺어졌으나 가족으로 받아들이기 힘들었던 엄마를 ‘생활 공동체’ 속에서 함께 생활한 이후에 가족으로 받아들이게 된다. 『섬마을 스캔들』의 다율은 아무런 혈연관계가 없는 공동체 구성원들과 자발적 책임의 관계를 맺으며 진짜 가족이 되어간다. 그리고 이들은 서로에 대한 상호의존성으로 서로를 양육하고 지역공동체를 가족으로 여긴다. 이처럼 정상과 비정상의 경계에서 정상가족 너머를 사유하는 것은 다양한 가족의 형태를 긍정하는 일이자, 가족 구성원 간의 동등한 관계를 가능하게 하고, 정상의 경계를 넘어 새로운 가족의 도래를 가능하게 하는 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the problems of the ‘Normal Family’ discourse and to study the Various Family in the recent children's literature. The family is a community of blood relation in the ‘Normal Family’ discourse. Under this perceptions, sacrifice of a family member for maintenance of normal family is taken for granted. It also makes some people who can not belong to normal family feel a sense of relative deprivation as their own family. Nowadays, the family pattern is getting changed, so it is very urgent for children's readers to present various family as positive perspectives. When we overcome the closedness of blood and become free from the nomal family discourse, we will understand better the various family that support each other in various ways. Writers of <Ppaengdeok> and <Island Village Scandal> think about this violence and the boundaries of the ‘normal family’ discourse. <Ppaengdeok> shows the problem of the ‘normal family’ discourse through the female characters sacrificed for the family and <Island Village Scandal> shows the Family as pure relationship that is not made up of blood relatives. These works contribute to reveal alternative and diverse forms of family. The writers of these works think positively the family as a ‘living community’ rather than the family as a community of blood relation. The characteristics of these alternative families are ‘marginality’ and ‘responsibility’. The family as a living community is maintained by the voluntary responsibility of all the members not the one-sided sacrifice of the other members. Byeongdok of <Ppaengdeok> could accept her mother as a family after he had lived with her in the living community. Dayul of <Island Village Scandal> becomes a genuine family with the members of the Island community by a relationship of voluntary responsibility. The reason for thinking beyond the normal family at the border between normal and abnormal is to make various family that enable equal relations between family members instead of sacrifice within the family be positive.
