Abstract

Notes on revising "The Annotation of Korea Poetry Anthology" Lee, Young-koo Korea Poetry Anthology (below shortened as Anthology) is a Korean collection of Chinese-style poetry from the Silla to the middle of the Joseon Dynasty. It was edited by the literati from both China and Korea, such as Wu Mingji, a soldier of Ming Dynasty who helped Korean people to fight invaders between 1598 (the 26th year of Emperor Wanli's reign) and 1599 (the 27th year of Emperor Wanli's reign), and Xu Jun, a Korean writer. According to the types of the poems, the book is divided into 7 parts, namely pentasyllabic ancient poems, septsyllabic ancient poems, pentasyllabic regulated verses, pentasyllabic extended regulated verses, septsyllabic regulated verses, pentasyllabic quatrains and heptasyllabic quatrains, which add up to 253 poems.For a long time, many Korean scholars have thought that Korea Poetry Anthology was lost in history. In 1998, Professor Qi Qinfu of China Central University for Nationalities found the Korean version of this book in China's National Library. In the next year, he published "The Annotation of Korea Poetry Anthology (below shortened as Annotation)".It is a new founding in the research of Sino-Korea communication history, and this founding is significant for the inquiry into Sino-Korea cultural exchange in the 16th and 17th centuries. Therefore, it attracts the attention from the academic circles of both countries.By proofreading "The Annotation of Korea Poetry Anthology", we can not only find out many word mistakes within it, but also analyze the value of the anthology, and compare it with poems collected by government officials. Wu Mingji was an underclass common people. Thus he hoped to get famous by the anthology. At the same time, as a writer with low social status, his literature standard exceeded that of the official literati.
