Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a school-based resilience enhancement model for students with health impairments. To achieve this purpose, researchers explored components of the model and verified the validity. Method: To explore components, focus-group interviews were performed in January through April 2015 and 13~17 subjects were included from 3 regions representing the nation. To establish the validity, a questionnaire was administered to 150 students with health impairments representing 3 regions. The questionnaire consists of 4 components and 19 questions, emerged from the results of focus-group interviews and was conducted from February to April 2016. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 for windows. Results: The results were as follows. Firstly, the 4 components(19 questions) of school-based resilience enhancement model for students with health impairments included personal component(5 questions), familial component(4 questions), academic component(6 questions), environmental component(4 questions). Secondly, the total reliability coefficient of the model was .93, sub-reliability was .67~.89, the average total-question correlation coefficient was .89, sub-correlation coefficient was considerably high(the correlation coefficient of personal component was .40~.66, academic component was .62~.80, familial component as .57~.77, environmental component was .61~.75). Thirdly, the familial and academic component, environmental, academic component and familial component were positively correlated. Conclusion: Based on these results, this study concluded and suggested for further studies.
