남성성의 결핍으로 인한 문제와 그 정신치료: 47세 남성의 사례를 중심으로

Abstract

Analytical Psychologist C. G. Jung, in his article "The Significance of the Father in the Destiny of the Individual", insisted on the importance of the father for the development of an individual. As an individual is not only affected by his/her father with many objective relations but also by archetypal image of the father which was influenced by these relations on subjective level. For example, if a man had not a good relationship with his father, he would be likely to attach to his mother and could not develop his masculinity as a man. So his feeling function would not run well and he could not make good relations with others. C. G. Jung named this type of man "puer aeternus" and described many characteristics such as asocial individualism, prussian mentality, the problem of creativity, infantilism. mental reservation, savior complex, disharmonious feeling, etc.. We can find these figures in this client aged forty-seven. He could not set on his career and also work well as an independent person in his social life. Now he is suffering with the depression. Here after, it would be better for the psychotherapist to focus on the separation from his mother and the development of his masculinity.
