Abstract
ABSTRACT This study employs text-mining techniques to identify gendered patterns in Shakespeare's The Rape of Lucrece, placing the poem as a critical lens through which to read gender and trauma dynamics in militarized culture. Through its examination of Shakespeare's use of siege metaphors, sentiment arcs, and linguistic patterns, the study illustrates how Lucrece's rape is constructed as an act of militarized conquest, consolidating hierarchical power and control relations. Computational methods—including frequency analysis, sentiment tracking, and network mapping—reveal how Shakespeare addresses the issue of traumatic representation, particularly in terms of silencing, moral injury, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The study argues that The Rape of Lucrece provides profound insight into the psychological consequences of violence in military contexts, making it an effective pedagogical tool for provoking critical examination of power, gender, and trauma in military classrooms. By bridging literary analysis and computational methods, the study demonstrates Shakespeare's continued relevance to contemporary examinations of war, ethics, and the human cost of violence.
