Abstract
This study seeks to reconceptualize the ACTS Theological Synopsis Movement, which has thus far been discussed primarily in terms of its content, from a communication-oriented perspective. To this end, it traces by whom, through which media, and in what forms the ACTS Theological Synopsis Movement has been expanded and reproduced. More specifically, the study employs a literature-based research methodology, collecting and analyzing a wide range of existing scholarship and official documents related to the ACTS Theological Synopsis Movement, and applies the analytical frameworks of media ecology and mediation theory. This approach understands media not as mere channels of information transmission, but as environmental conditions that reconfigure human perception, sensation, and social interaction, thereby enabling the ACTS Theological Synopsis Movement to be redefined as a field of mediated practice. In addition, drawing on religious anthropologist Birgit Meyer’s theories of mediation and sensational forms, the study foregrounds the materiality and sensorial dimensions of religious practice. From this perspective, the ACTS Theological Synopsis Movement is interpreted as a process in which evangelical core truths are rendered sensible through various media and embodied as collective identity through repeated performative practices. By systematically examining the ACTS Theological Synopsis Movement across performative, educational, and missional domains, this study identifies the limitations inherent in past mediating practices and proposes avenues for addressing them. In doing so, it offers a set of sustainable mediation strategies particularly meaningful at the institution’s fiftieth anniversary.
