모달리티는 인간이 인간 또는 기계와 소통하는 채널을 의미한다. 멀티모달 인터페이스는 다양한 통신 채널을 제공하는 인터페이스이다. 본 논문에서는 멀티모달 인터페이스에 대해서 살펴보고, 음성을 포함한 멀티모달 인터페이스에 기반한 무선 인터넷에서의 웹 검색 서비스를 제안한다. 기존의 연구에 의하면 유니모달 입력보다 멀티모달 입력이 더 빠르며, 사용자들은 유니모달 인터페이스보다 멀티모달 인터페이스를 더 선호함을 보여준다. 본 논문은 무선환경 기반 단말기에서의 무선 인터넷 검색 서비스를 위한 멀티모달 인터페이스에 필요한 요소들을 살펴본다.
Abstract
Modality refers to the type of communication channel that humans can use to interact with people or machines. Multimodal interfaces enable interaction through different communication channels. In this paper, multimodal interfaces are described and a framework with the multimodal interface including speech is suggested for the Web search on mobile devices. Previous studies show that multimodal interfaces are faster than unimodal interfaces and most users prefer using multimodal interfaces. This paper proposes components for the multimodal interface on mobile devices in wireless internet environments.
