Abstract
With the growing population of mobile subscribers, the importance of mobile search is increasing significantly. Mobile search is a kind of information retrieval service that is available on mobile devices. Thus, it should be dealt with differently from traditional PC-based Web search due to the intrinsic characteristics of mobile devices. For example, mobile devices have limitations in screen size, type of interactions, and text inputs. On the other hand, users can use mobile devices on the move while making immediate interaction anytime and anyplace. Therefore, there has been a significant research effort to analyze information needs and search behaviors to better understand mobile users. In this paper, we survey research trends and suggest some directions to mobile search.
