Abstract
Blast-resistant doors are essential for safeguarding buildings and infrastructure against explosive threats. This study investigates the performance of scaled steel-concrete composite sliding blast-resistant doors by analyzing their maximum deflection angles and displacements under various scaling ratios. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models were developed using LS-PrePost and LS-DYNA and validated against experimental data. The models were subjected to different scaling ratios to evaluate their response to blast loads, with data on displacements and rotation angles collected and analyzed through regression techniques. The results revealed that larger doors exhibited significant non-linear increases in both maximum displacements and rotation angles, deviating from linear scaling predictions. Specifically, the maximum rotation angle, which is crucial for performance certification, increased more rapidly with size, indicating that larger doors require more robust design considerations to meet safety standards. These findings highlight the substantial impact of scaling effects on door performance and safety certification, emphasizing the need for precise design and evaluation.
