사회자본이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향: 정주의식과 자기효능감의 매개효과분석

초록

본 연구는 사회자본의 규범, 신뢰, 참여, 네트워크가 국민의 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향과 더불어 정주의식과 자기효능감의 매개효과에 관심을 두고, “이들 변수가 국민의 삶의 만족도에 직･간접적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는지?”, 영향을 미친다면 “그 상대적 영향력은 어떠한지?” 등을 연구문제로 설정하여 실증적으로 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국행정연구원의 ‘2018년 사회통합실태조사’의 데이터를 활용하여, 가설검증을 위한 다중회귀분석과 매개효과분석을 위한 Baron & Kenny(1986)의 3단계 검증을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 사회자본의 규범, 신뢰, 네트워크는 삶의 만족도에 모두 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 반면, 사회자본의 참여는 통계적으로 유의미한 결과를 나타냈으나 부(-)의 관계를 갖는 것으로 확인되었다. 매개효과분석에서 규범, 신뢰, 네트워크는 완전･부분매개가 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 각 변수의 직･간접적인 영향력은 정주의식(β=0.354), 자기효능감(β=0.334)이 가장 높게 나타났다. 사회자본의 요인은 네트워크(β=0.243), 규범(β=0.159), 신뢰(β=0.079), 참여(β=-0.055) 순의 상대적 영향력을 확인할 수 있었다. 이와 같은 분석결과는 국민의 삶의 만족도 제고를 위한 정책수립에 있어 사회자본, 정주의식, 자기효능감을 적합한 수단으로 고려해야 할 뿐만 아니라, 반영된 국민의 사회현상 인식을 감안하여 변수 간 영향력의 우선순위에 따라 정책의 중요도의 차등적용을 시사한다고 볼 수 있다.

Abstract

This study is concerned with the effects social capital elements such as norms, trust, engagement and networks have on national life satisfaction and the mediating effects of settlement consciousness and self-efficacy. Accordingly, it aims to empirically investigate the following research questions: “Does these variables have significant direct/indirect effect on national life satisfaction?” “If they do, what is the relative influence of each variable?”To this end, this study used data from the 2018 Korea Social Integration Survey by Korea Institute of Public Administration. This study conducted the multiple regression analysis was conducted for hypothesis testing and the Baron and Kenny’s(1986) three-step mediation analysis for testing mediational hypotheses. As a result of analyzing the data, it was confirmed that norms, trust, engagement and networks of social capital all have positive effects on national life satisfaction. On the other hand, it was found that the engagement element of social capital showed statistically significant results but have a negative relationship. The mediation analysis results showed that norms, trust and networks have full and partial mediating effects. As for the direct and indirect relative influence of each variable, settlement consciousness(β=0.354) and self-efficacy(β=0.334) showed the highest influence. Among the elements of social capital, networks(β=0.243) showed the highest relative influence, followed by norms(β=0.159), trust(β=0.079) and engagement(β=-0.055). These analysis results imply that social capital, settlement consciousness, and self-efficacy should be considered as appropriate measures in establishing policies for the improvement of national life satisfaction. They also suggest that different importance should be applied to policies according to relative influence between variables while taking account of the people’s awareness of social phenomenon reflected in the policies.
