초등학교 과학 교과서 표지 및 속표지 사진 자료의 구성 실태와 개선 방안 -조류를 중심으로-

Abstract

The cover and the title page pictures of elementary school science textbooks are needed to be taught in a science class because they give abundant information of the textbook contents and occupy many pages. This article reported the kinds of birds and relation to learning content presented in covers of elementary science textbooks and sub-textbooks from 3rd grade to 6th grade, and elementary school teachers' uses practical them. This paper focused on a bird that is important material for learning science. There were 17 species of birds on textbook covers. Seven species of them are rare or indirectly related to the content of the textbooks. Since teachers did not recognize a necessity to use birds’ photographs on science textbook covers, unknowable of birds and have limited time in teaching, they tended not to use them in the class. Several considerations for using the cover-pictures and the title page pictures of elementary science textbooks and sub-textbooks in a science class are suggested.
