An Analysis on the Demand and Supply of Manpower in Regional Strategic Industry: Focused on 10 Strategic Industries of Busan

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to estimate the demand and supply of manpower and suggest policy implications of 10 strategic industries of Busan. This study set a forecasting equation model and adapted a time-series analysis. Data were collected from various statistics yearbooks during 10 or 20 years for empirical analysis. Techniques used in analyzing data were time-series regression analysis. SPSS for windows programs were applied in the analysis. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, in the demand analysis, additional demands are needed in the field of 9 strategic industries except the footwear industry in the year 2008. Second, in the supply analysis, additional supplies are needed in the field of 8 strategic industries except the harbor and trade industry, the movie and IT industry in the year 2008. Third, in the disparity analysis, demand exceeds supply in the field of the harbor and trade industry, the machinery industry, the maritime and bio-technology industry, the silver industry, the marine and processing industry. Forth, in the earlier disparity analysis, supply exceeds demand in the field of the tour and convention industry, the movie and IT industry, the future and finance industry, the footwear industry.
