공적 자의식과 대인 불안과의 관계에서 자아 정체성 성취의 매개 효과와 조절 효과

초록

본 연구의 목적은 청소년 후기의 한일 대학생을 대상으로 공적 자의식과 대인 불안과의 관계에서 나타나는 자아 정체성 성취의 매개 효과와 조절 효과를 검토하는 데 있다. 질문지 조사는, 일본 동경에 있는 3개 대학교의 대학생 200명(남자 101명, 여자 99명), 서울에 거주하는 2개 대학교 대학생 222명(남자 108명, 여자 114명)을 대상으로 이루어졌다. 한일 청소년을 대상으로 공적 자의식과 대인 불안과의 관계에서 자아 정체성 성취가 대인 불안을 억제하는 변인으로서 그 효과를 갖는지 검토했다. 본 연구를 통하여 밝혀진 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 공적 자의식이 대인 불안에 영향을 끼치는 경로는, 대인 불안에 정적으로 영향을 끼치는 직접 경로와 자아 정체성 성취를 매개로 해서 대인 불안에 부적으로 영향을 끼치는 간접 경로가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 공적 자의식과 대인 불안과의 관계에서 자아 정체성 성취는 대인 불안을 억제하는 조절 효과를 갖는다는 것과 대인 불안을 유의하게 감소시키는 중요한 매개 변인으로 작용하고 있다는 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 즉, 대인 불안에 대한 공적 자의식과 자아 정체성 성취의 상호작용은 유의한 것으로, 공적 자의식이 높은 사람 모두가 대인불안이 높은 것이 아니라, 이들 중 자아 정체성 성취가 낮은 사람에게서 대인 불안이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 대인 불안의 예방과 처치를 위해 공적 자의식을 낮추려는 노력보다는 청소년기의 주요 발달과업인 자아 정체성 성취를 위한 적절한 개입이 더 효과적일 수 있음을 시사한다.

Abstract

Purpose of this study is that to investigate that mediating and moderating effects of identity achievement in the relation between public self-consciousness and social anxiety in Korea and Japanese adolescence. The questionnaires survey was conducted with 200 Japanese students (male-101, female-99) from three universities in Tokyo and 222 Korean students (male-108, female-114) from two universities in Seoul. Results from a hierarchial regression analysis showed as follows: Public self-consciousness effects to social anxiety with two path, it is positive effect directly, and is effects indirectly through the medium of identity achievement. When identity achievement is analyzed together with public self-consciousness as an independent variable factor, the effect of public self-consciousness to social anxiety is less than the 1st stage, which means identity achievement is partially mediation between social anxiety and public self-consciousness. In addition, it could be stated that regarding social anxiety, the interaction between public self-consciousness and identity achievement is significant. Among the person whose public self-consciousness is high level, people whose identity achievement is low level show high level of social anxiety. That is, data indicated that in the process public self-consciousness affects to social anxiety, moderating effect of achievement of identity is revealed. The results suggested that enhancing identity achievement in adolescence could be more effective than reducing public self-consciousness to prevent and cure social anxiety.
