본고는 맑스주의 체계와 현실적 운동의 성장과 쇠퇴가 한차례 완결된 현시점에서 마르크스가 모든 비판의 전제라고 말한 종교비판을 새로운 각도에서 조명한다. 이러한 작업은 기독교의 종교개혁과 유사하며 맑스주의가 다원적 사회의 일원으로 자기 위치를 확보하고 생명력을 얻는데 있어 불가결하다. 기존 종교를 부정한 사적유물론이 어떻게 종교적 과제에 답하고 있는지를 밝힌다. 이 점에서는 사적유물론은 종교비판이면서 종교이다. 사적유물론은 절대주의와는 양립불가능하다는 것과 독자적인 방식으로 죄와 죽음이라는 종교적 과제에 답하고 있음을 밝힌다. 마지막으로 공생주의의 종교적 실천원칙을 도출한다. 이러한 논의로부터 사상-이론-정치적 실천의 세 영역에서 종교로서의 사적유물론이 가장 상위의 지위를 차지해야 하는 근거를 분명히 한다.
Abstract
This thesis tries to shed a new light on the Marxist critique of religion, on what Marx states "the premise of all criticism," with the benefit of hindsight, from the present high point where the first life cycle of Marxism has come to a close. By showing how historical materialism answers the unavoidable religious questions, such as sin, death etc., we establish that it is a kind of religion as well as a critique of traditional religions. With the understanding that communism is the preemption of the future in our consciousness, the future where the conflict between man and man as well as man and nature is resolved, we establish the basic principle of communist practice.
