이 연구는 프로젝트 학습 기반 제로 웨이스트(Zero Waste) 교육이 초등학생들의 환경 감수성 및 소비행동에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구 대상은 P시 초등학교 6학년 1개 학급 22명을 연구집단으로 구성하였다. 이 연구의 수행을 위해 환경 감수성과 소비행동에 관한 사전·사후 검사를 실시하고 그 결과를 분석하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 프로젝트 학습 기반 제로웨이스트 교육은 초등학생의 환경 감수성에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 본 프로그램을 적용한 연구집단은 수업 전·후의 환경 감수성 하위 영역인 민감성, 심미감과 정서안정, 동정과 연민에서 유의미한 향상이 일어났다. 둘째, 프로젝트 학습 기반 제로 웨이스트 교육이 초등학생의 소비행동에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 본 프로그램을 적용한 연구집단은 수업 전·후의 소비행동 하위 영역인 구매행동, 사용행동, 처리행동에서 유의미한 향상이 일어났다. 위와 같이 프로젝트 학습 기반 제로 웨이스트 교육은 초등학생의 환경 감수성과 소비행동에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 환경 문제에 대한 대응 능력과 올바른 인식을 함양할 수 있는 효과적인 학습 프로그램으로 판단된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is the effect of project learning-based Zero Waste on Environmental sensitivity and consumption behavior of elementary school students. The research subject consists of 22 students from single 6th grade class at an elementary school in P city, forming the experimental group. In order to carry out this research, pre- and post-surveys on environmental sensitivity and consumer behavior were conducted and the results were analyzed. The results of this study are as follows. First, project learning-based zero waste education had a positive impact on elementary students' environmental awareness. The experimental group that applied this program showed significant improvements in the subdomains of environmental sensitivity before and after the class, including sensitivity, aesthetic appreciation and emotional stability, and empathy and compassion. Second, project learning-based zero waste education positively influenced the consumption behavior of elementary school students. The experimental group, which the program was applied to, showed significant improvement in the subdomains of consumption behavior, including purchasing behavior, usage behavior, and processing behavior, both before and after the class. As above, the project learning-based zero waste education positively influenced elementary students' environmental sensitivity and consumption behavior, and it is considered an effective learning program that can respond to environmental issues and cultivate the right awareness.
