Abstract

Ou-yang Xiu was a prolific writer who had active opinion and motto in his essays. In a nut shell, His Wenlun focus on simplicity and clearness. However, Ci of Ou-yang Xiu have never been theoretically studied, regardless of his prolificacy in Ci We found out some evidence to arrange Cilun of Ou-yang Xiu from scattered records. We concluded his Cilun as followings. First, Ou-yang Xiu simultaneously had unconscious sympathy and conscious antipathy with Ci. Second, His contradictory consciousness starts from feelings with Ci and poem, ends with harmonic mixture of environment and situation of the writer. The study of Ou-yang Xiu's Cilun will emphasize the lyricism of Ci and help understanding works of Ou-yang Xiu.
