施蟄存과 朴泰遠의 도시인식

Abstract

The City Cognizance of Park, Tae-weon and Shi, Zhe-chun Kin, Soon-jin Seoul and Shanghai where were colonized and urbanized in 20th century made Modernism come into the world in the 1930s. In the background of these two cities, Park, taw-weon and Shi, zhe-cun, a representative writer of each city, described the life of urbanite. Their novels were revealing that alienation, discontinuation and darkness of urbanite, who has no exit, by being recursive to the origin. The works like revealing the reality were described by destructive power and passion of strife which head toward anti-feudalism and anti-capitalism now and then, but also displayed the blind desperation and appearances as escaping from reality and going back to the pre-modern. It was the limitation and characteristic of male writers in the 1930s that return to the pre-modern family through their imaginary woman and mother. But the breakdown of pre-modern family was a new beginning to grope for new gender's role. This paper will study these two writer's characteristic in the way of how to describe two cities and the modernistic meaning in their depictions.
