초록
Ji Young Lok is a collection of Li Ik Tae’s works. He was a Jeju local official in the period of King Sookjong of the Joseon Dynasty. This collection documents how he traveled from Hanyang to JeJu Island for his career and various affairs that he took part in during his tenure. In addition to his work, there are also writings from Jeju local officials before Li Ik Tae, as well as the geography of Jeju. At the back of the book is an appendix of fourteen records about foreigners adrift to Jeju during the reign of King Hyojong, King Hyonjong, and King Sookjong. These records are a rough draft for official national records, and they were written by Jeju local officials who wrote down what they observed through direct interrogation of foreigners adrift. Ji Young Lok is valuable material for looking into the detailed conversations between Joseon translators and Chinese castaways, as well as the state of castaways from some foreign countries to Jeju Island during the Joseon Dynasty.
