The rulers of ancient Chinese societies used XíngFa(刑法) for the control and stability of societies. Chinese characters are closely related to Chinese punitive laws and the names of legal punishments. Chinese characters, which were created to express such punishments, directly reflect the content of traditional Chinese punitive laws. Chinese punitive laws, to which we can approach objectively, can serve as core elements that will help us understand the characteristics of Chinese society. This is because understanding the legal system of China can be more important than understanding the laws themselves.
Abstract
