Abstract
"Chinese Development Model" and Role of Hong Kong Lee, Hong-gyoo Despite the similarities between East Asian development model and new liberalistic development model, China have adopted divergent course to development, what is called the Chinese development model. Especially, Chinese development model have had the characteristics as evolutionary economic opening, which means the level of economic opening to outer world keep pace with the internal changes. As a base of the "one country two system", the existence and role of Hong Kong is a critical factor on the construction of evolutionary open economy in China, because the economic cooperation with Hong Kong and the mainland China has been and will be wider and closer. Now Hong Kong is a good model for studying and imitating to China whose economy is growing continuously and rapidly.Hong Kong's returning to China at 1997 was a new turning point, because it meant the change of relation between two, from the 'age of specialization' to 'cooperative but competitive' age. Also, it means that the integration between China and Hong Kong will be accelerated.In the short run, the economic integration of Hong Kong and China will be beneficial to both of them. But in the long view, there exists a possibility that economic integration will become or cause serious problems between China and Hong Kong.
