이 논문에서는 중세시대로부터 근대에 이르기까지의 우리 역사를 가장 종합적으로 집대성해 놓은 자료인 <조선왕조실록> 속의 기록을 통해서 ‘의료(醫療)’와 관련한 몇몇 어휘군의 사용 양상을 정리해 보고 이들 어휘군에 속한 개별 어휘들이 근대적 혹은 현대적 응용법과 어떠한 차이를 보이는지를 점검해 보았다. 본고는 먼저 ‘치료(治療)’와 ‘치유(治癒)’의 출현 양상 및 차이를 알아본 뒤, ‘의원(醫員)/의사(醫師)류 어휘군, 병원(病院)/의원(醫院)류 어휘군 등을 중심으로 이들이 <조선왕조실록> 안에서 어떠한 양상으로 실현되는지를 통해 전통 시대 의료 관련 어휘들의 역사를 점검해 보고 이들이 현대의 의료 전문어들에 어떠한 방식으로 이어지게 되었는지를 살펴보는 데 초점을 두고 논의를 전개하였다.
Abstract
In this paper, first, through the records in <The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty>, which is the most comprehensively compiled material of our history from the Middle Ages to the modern era, we summarized the usage of several vocabulary groups related ‘medical care'. Next, we examined how individual vocabularies belonging to these vocabulary groups differ from modern or modern applied methods. The main subjects of discussion in this paper are treatment and cure, clinic, doctor-like vocabulary, hospital clinic vocabulary. This paper examines the history of medical humanities vocabulary in the traditional era through how these words are realized in <Annals of the Joseon Dynasty>. Furthermore, we systematically looked into how these vocabularies are connected to modern medical jargons.
