시진핑(習近平) 집권 이후, ‘중국몽(中国梦)’은 중국 정치에서 중요한 개념이자 정치 담론(political discourse)의 핵심 키워드가 되었다. 최근 권위주의적 탄력성(authoritarian resilience)에 관한 연구에서, 체제 정당성(regime legitimacy)에 대한 대중 설득(mass persuasion)의 중요성이 광범위하게 논의되어왔다. 본 연구는 시진핑 시기 중국지도부가 중국공산당의 체제 정당화(legitimation)를 위한 대중 설득의 도구로서 중국몽 담론을 활용하고 있다고 본다. 이러한 관점에서, 본 연구는 시진핑 시기 중국지도부가 공산당의 영도권 강화에 대한 대중적 지지를 확보하기 위해 중국몽 담론을 어떻게 활용하는지에 분석의 초점이 맞춘다. 정치적 합법성 이론과 프레이밍(framing) 연구에 관한 이론적 논의에 기반하여, 중국의 대표적인 관영언론인 인민일보의 키워드 분석과 중국지도자들의 연설문에 대한 프레임(frame) 분석을 통해, 중국지도부의 중국몽 담론에서 어떠한 프레임들이 체제 정당성 강화를 위한 대중 설득에 활용되는지를 분석한다.
Abstract
Since Xi Jinping came to power, the ‘Chinese dream’ has become an important concept and keyword in Chinese political discourse. In recent years, the studies of authoritarian resilience have paid increasing attention to the importance of mass persuasion as a mean of political legitimation in authoritarian regimes. This study views that the Chinese leadership headed by Xi Jinping uses the ‘Chinese dream’ discourse as a mean of mass persuasion for political legitimation. From this perspective, based on the theory of political legitimacy and the theory of framing, this article focuses on analyzing how the official discourse of ‘Chinese dream’ is used and framed to gain public support for strengthening the CCP’s leadership. Through the analysis of frames exhibited in the Chinese leaders’ speeches as well as the analysis of keywords appeared in the articles of CCP’s official newspaper, People's Daily, it explores the official frames of the ‘Chinese dream’ discourse that the Chinese leadership use in the mass persuasion campaigns to promote its political legitimacy.
