자연어 처리는 IT 분야의 기술적 산업적 측면뿐 아니라, 인간의 언어 지식을 객관화하고 실제적인 규칙을 제안한다는 점에서 현대의 지식 사회에서 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 그러나 자연어 처리는 근본적으로 IT와 언어학의 협업을 요한다는 점에서 실제적인 연구 결과를 도출하기 위해서는 학제적 융합과 이를 위한 많은 연구 인력을 필요로 하기 때문에 하나의 연구 과제를 성공적으로 달성하기가 쉽지 않다. 또한 인간의 언어는 생각보다 복잡한 기제로 이루어져 있기 때문에 단순히 몇몇의 규칙을 통해 구현하기 힘들다는 점도 난점 중의 하나이다. 이 논의에서는 자연어 처리란 무엇이며, 그 과정에 필요한 기술과 기술의 도약을 위해 넘어야 하는 몇 가지 문제를 다루었다. 자연어 처리는 그 자체로 산업적 중요성을 가지지만 인간 언어 이해의 가장 개관적인 모의적 실험이라는 측면에서 앞으로 더 많은 학제적 관심이 필요한 분야이다.
Abstract
The NLP(Natural Language Process) is the fusion science or technology of IT and linguistics. We use the technology for the huge data of knowledge in the knowledge society now and future. But NLP needs large research groups for the each study theme. The complexity of human knowledge of language makes the study difficult. NLP have the sub theme, which are the analysis of morpheme, sentence, or machine translation, human-computer dialogue system etc. Or we have more knowledge of our language. The human process of the language understanding and production may be different with the machine process. But Church’s thesis under the Turing logic means all computable process can be producted with computer. We can more understand our language process, we can more product efficient and near human language machine. Because our language is the base of human intelligence, the development of NLP can be accelerate the Artificial Intelligence realization.
