아베 고보(安部公房)의 모래의 여자(砂の女) 론 - ‘남자’의 정착에 대한 환상을 중심으로 -

Abstract

This study is rereading Abe Gobo’s 『Woman in the Dunes』 - focusing on the desire and fantasy of the settlement of the man. The development of ‘Insect Collection’ and ‘Reservoir System’ is emerging as a means of self-realization by a man in the first and second half of the text. This thesis deems the development of ‘Insect Collection’ and ‘Reservoir System’ as an act to promote settlement and comfort by man as an interface between others and society. Therefore, in chapter 1, which showed ‘Insect Collection’, the everyday society and Dunes belonging to ‘man’ were completely homogeneous spaces, and ‘Insect Collection’ in Dunes revealed the desire of settlement as a means of self-realization that was not done in everyday life. In chapter 2, which showed the development of ‘Reservoir System’, sand was a metaphor of hardship and trials, and it was found that hardship did not have meaningful contact with others and society for men. The ‘Reservoir System’ developed by the man was also a symbol of uselessness and helplessness in front of the death of a woman. The man realized that the ‘Reservoir System’ was only a self-help measure and felt helpless and was reserving his escape. In chapter 3, it shows the man’s desire to connect with others through the house. About the meaning of the house, it’s referred from the other work of Abe, ‘The Red Cocoon’. As a result, the desire for settlement or settlement expressed through the house was only a fantasy.
