정치적 갈등과 일화적 프레임의 효과: '사이버 모욕죄'의 사례

초록

본 논문은 특정 사건이나 개인에 초점을 맞추는 일화적 프레임의 효과를 다룬다. 2008-9년 중요한 정치적 쟁점이 되었던 사이버모욕죄 사례를 실험조사를 통해 분석하였다. 일반적이고 추상적인 보도양식인 주제적 프레임에 비해 일화적 프레임은 수용성이 높지만, 경쟁적 조건에서는 그 효과가 줄어드는 사실을 발견하였다. 특정 가치에 대한 선택적 강조가 비경쟁적 조건에서는 일화적 프레임을 통해 높은 효과를 나타내지만, 경쟁적 조건이 됨으로써 상쇄되는 결과이다. 반대로, 주제적 보도양식은 반대논리에 대면해서도 프레임 효과가 유지되었다. 이는 일화적 프레임이 즉각적이며 인지작용이 적게 소모되는 정서적-주변적 경로를 활용하기 때문이며, 주제적 프레임은 보다 인지적인 절차를 밟기 때문인 것으로 추론하였다. 이를 확인하기 위해서 신념 중요도에 따른 매개효과를 분석하였고, 주제적 프레임에서만 가치 중요성에 대한 평가가 의견형성을 매개하는 과정이 발견되었다.
