유학신학(儒學神學)의 가능성에 대한 조직신학적 성찰: 『천주실의』(天主實義)의 재발견

이 글은 마태오 리치의『천주실의』를 예증으로 현대세계에서 신학하기의 가능성을 시도한 탐색의 글이다.『천주실의』는 17세기 초 저술된 작품으로 두 가지를 목표로 삼는다. 첫째, 당대의 중국 지성인들(신유가)에게 그리스도교를 소개하는 것이며, 둘째로 유럽의 선교사들에게 중국 문화를 개략적으로 소개하는 기능을 담보했다. 그렇다면 천주실의가 의도한 공과는 어떠한가? 신학적인 측면에서 살펴보기 위해 본 논문은『천주실의』를 해석되어야 할 텍스트로 보고, 그리스도교 문명과 중국문명 사이에 위치한『천주실의』를 해석한다는 것이 무엇을 의미하는지 해석학적 지평에서 탐색해 본다. 지난 세기에 해석학자들이 제공했던 해석학적 순환과 지평융합의 개념이 본 논문이 시도하는 작업에 직접적 관련이 있음이 확인된다. 문화와 문화가, 종교와 종교가 만나지 않을 수 없는 현대에 신학하기의 방법론이『천주실의』에서 발견한다.
Abstract
By reading the The True Meaning of the Lord of Heaven(Tien-chu Shihi) written by Matteo Ricci, It raised a question on the possibility of Doing Theology in this modern world. This Book was written in the beginning of 17th century in China for two purposes: firstly, to introduce the christianity to the chinese neo-confusionists, and secondly, to be used by the european missionaries to understand chinese culture in general. The context presents two main steps in its argumentation: the first one is to read the book as a text for interpretation and the second is to introduce what the interpretation means and why the hermeneutic circle and the Horizontverschmelzung(지평융합) were needed. The hermeneutics aids mainly modern readers on finding out the meaning of today, from the past through the text. This hermeneutical principle applies to the True Meaning of the Lord of Heaven so that we can get a way of Doing Theology possible in the diversified world where cultures meet cultures, and religions meet religions.
