Frida Kahlo, who had lived the Mexico’s Revolution Era, remained a historic recognition as ‘a person’ and ‘a mexican people’ in her paintings. In particular, 55 self-portraits reflect overall how the characteristics of hybridity of the ‘mexicanidad’ could come from the cultural-ethnic-social combination of the complex configurations of heterogeneous elements in her life. Through her works a series of images and symbols of identifying herself with the mexican history and society could be founded such as ‘other as a target of exploitation’, ‘meztizaje’, ‘motherhood’, etc. that let her ‘fuse’ and ‘converge’ them to be born as a ‘new identity’.
